CLIMATE WORKS, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, US
To abstractly evoke natural ideas to enliven the space the architect designed 44 framed fabric feature sculptural ceiling elements that resemble cloud and dragon fly shapes. These forms also diffuse light. This office renovation of a non-profit organization which works to prevent climate change had an environmentally sensitive mandate so a recycled textile was used on the forms.
Similar to many of our ceiling projects, the panels had the added complication of various penetrations of lighting, sprinklers, columns etc. that required additional coordination and site visits. Both convex and concave shape required complex templating for the textile to take on the dynamic surface shape.
